How easy is it to fit when there is a flood warning?

It is extremely easy to fit as all you need to do with the floodwall system is take the cover to the door/airbrick, slot in the bottom edge and click the catches as if you were closing a briefcase. The panels, being made out of aluminium are extremeley light and can be carried by one person (children and senior citizens included).

Where can I store the panels when not in use?

As the panels are extremely light, rust proof and almost indestructable, they can be stored ouside. Being very slim, they can be stored in a shed or garage. As part of our service we supply hooks to hang the panels when not in use.

How does this system compare with the competition?

Floodblock offers the widest range of protection. This includes:

Floodwall - An extremely quick, lightweight and easy to fit system. Does not require special bars to reinforce the panels, (except for doors over 8 foot). Much lighter and safer than sandbags. No tools required.

Chemical Protection. As far as we know other companies rely on your wall being fully waterproof. What if they are not? We will treat your walls to make sure they are.

Plumbing Protection. Stopping water from entering through the shower, toilets, drains or overflow pipes. Many other suppliers do not include these.

Water Pumps. Removes water if it comes up through the floor or cavity wall.

How much will it cost?

The cost of installing the floodblock range will depend on the number of doors, air bricks, downstairs toilets, showers, baths etc. The cost to fit a complete system for most average houses will be less than £4000 including all parts, chemical treatment and installation by trained fitters. Compare this to the cost of being flooded, staying in a hotel, drying out the building, replacing damaged furniture etc, and the possibility that you will not be able to insure your property again, this could actually save you money.

What if I can't afford it?

If you do not have the money available to pay for your house to be protected, you may be able to speak to your mortgage company to add the cost to your mortgage, as they may feel happier knowing the property is covered in case of a flood. Should you not feel confident doing this Floodwall works with an independent financial company who may be able to arrange a new mortgage or other forms of finance.

Why does the protection only come part of the way up my property?

There are 2 main reasons.

1) With the system in place you can still gain entry.

2) If the protection came much higher and the flood waters rose that high, the building could be damaged as the property would try to float like a boat. We feel that a wet property is better than one needing to be demolished.

Remember that most floods are only eighteen inches deep.

What if I need to protect a shed or other item in my garden?

Items such as hot tubs and sheds mounted on a solid concrete can be protected. Wooden sheds standing grass or paving slabs can't be protected using floodwall and chemical protection due to the nature of wood. However we can supply other types of protection to surround the shed. Due to the costs, this option would only be worth using if the shed contains expensive items such as a recording studio or model railway. A removable waterproof wall is approx £150 per metre

How long will it take the to install it?

The system can be fitted to an average house in less than a day. As the parts are custom made to order, it can take up to 28 days before installation can start.

What is the largest door you can cover?

The largest Floodwall panels installed to date covered over 16 feet width. However the system can cover up to 40 feet using several panels that clip together.

My property is a grade 2 listed building, can I use the Floodblock system?

Most of the products supplied by Floodblock have been approved for use on grade 2 listed buildings.

What is the point of this protection if I don't know when to put the covers up?

You can register with the environment agency (www.environment-agency.gov.uk) and they will contact you when there is imminent risk of flooding. When you are warned you can immediately fit the products, or if you are at work phone a neighbour.
