When developing Floodwall it was important to make sure it worked. Finding a property about to flood, or damning a river to flood a house was not an option, so with the usual ingenuity of Floodwall, an "inside out house" was built in the normal way, but instead of stopping water getting in, the house was designed as a tank with the flood doors and air brick covers preventing water getting out.

The test house (tank) was then filled with water and a wave machine installed. This was left for several weeks (longer than most floods), during this time no water was found to escape! This exceeds the requirements for a British Standard kite mark which allows a system to leak 1 litre per meter per hour. FLOODWALL LEAKED 0 LITRES PER HOUR WHEN TESTED!
